TO: LOCAL PRESS & MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC 7TH JULY 2013 OPEN LETTER FROM EAT PUBS LTD, OF KING WILLIAM IV PUBLIC HOUSE Dear All Eduardo de Mesquita trading as The HAMPSTEAD CREPERIE I am obliged to write in order to correct a great deal of misrepresentations which have appeared regarding the Hampstead Creperie. • Eat Pubs Ltd is the current leaseholder of the entire King William IV public house, which has been part of the Community for some 300 years. We play a full part in the Community and charitable events. • Eat Pubs Ltd do NOT own the land upon which the Creperie is situated. • We are not evicting, or attempting to evict the Creperie. • For several years, successive landlords of the Public House have permitted the Creperie to use some storage and refrigeration facilities within the pub itself. • In 2005, new storage facilities were allocated to the Creperie and a new external refrigerator was placed in the beer garden to replace the old internal refrigerators. • Eat Pubs Ltd have provided these storage facilities to Mr De Mesquita completely free of charge, as have former Leaseholders. • Mr De Mesquita also owes the pub a considerable amount in unpaid water rates. • As a result of proposed improvements to the beer garden and lavatories, it is no longer possible for the pub to accommodate such a large external refrigerator in its current location, and the Creperie has been asked to remove the fridge and vacate the storage facilities. Neither is it feasible to continue to provide such facilities free of charge in the current economic situation, whilst the pub desperately needs additional storage capacity itself. • At the time that he was informed of the changes, Mr de Mesquita was offered alternative storage and refrigeration facilities, equivalent to the area used by the Creperie prior to 2005. He has chosen not to take up this offer or to enter into any dialogue regarding alternative facilities. This offer has therefore now been withdrawn. I trust that this clarifies the truth of the situation, and hope that members of the local Community do not feel that they have been misled. Yours truly Elaine Loughran Director Eat Pubs Ltd
