█ █ TO MOURN, OR NOT TO MOURN IS THE QUESTION █ - TopicsExpress

█ █ TO MOURN, OR NOT TO MOURN IS THE QUESTION █ █ Hussain (R.A.), without doubt has an exalted status, and his martyrdom was an extremely painful incident in our history. But Ali (R.A.) was more exalted in status, and he too was martyred. Yet we do not mourn that day. And the same way Uthman (R.A.) and Umar (R.A.) were martyred and Abu Bakr (R.A.) passed away, and they were more exalted in status, yet we do not mourn the day when they passed away. And RasulAllah (S.A.W.) was the best of all of mankind, and his passing away was the biggest tragedy of this Ummah, yet we do not mourn that day. So does it make any logical sense to single out and mourn the martyrdom of Hussain (R.A.)??? This unislamic practice of mourning by wailing, chest-beating and hurting oneself over the martyrdom of Hussain (R.A.) was started by the very people who betrayed Hussain (R.A.), and deserted him after promising him their allegiance. Our pious predecessors, all our beloved Imams and our respected scholars loved and respected Hussain (R.A.) much more than us, but they never practiced or supported this detestable ritual, rather they unanimously condemned it. It does not befit a Muslim to adopt these ways of Jahiliyah. And it is really a shame that Muslims have been misled to such an extent in this regard that they have forgotten the fact that Muharram is one of the sacred months, and instead they have begun to associate this month, and specifically the day of the ashoora, with mourning and sadness. May Allah grant us understanding. Ameen. ____________________________________
