TO NEURO INSTITUTE OF NEW ENGLAND: FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS. AN OPEN LETTER I AM SHARING WITH ALL WHO READ MY FACEBOOK PAGE. In September, you agreed to help me get a power wheel chair because I no longer have the strength in my arms to use a manual chair and the fatigue level from having multiple sclerosis and back pain from having degenerative disc disease prevent me from being able to safely walk around even in my own house once my fatigue level has been reached [currently that is about 45 minutes first thing in the morning]. I still do not have a power chair. About 2 weeks ago I had to go to the er because it appeared I might have broken both legs plus injured both ankles and feet when I crashed into the railing at the bottom of my handicap access ramp leading from my back door. I returned again to Neuro Institute to request help. I was prescribed a medication which caused even more weakness plus mental confusion and severe uncontrollable mood changes. When my husband called for help it took over one and half hours to get through to talk to anybody in your office. He was told to call an ambulance and have er check me out and monitor me. ER does not consider this an emergency! They know nothing about these meds or their side effects. Getting through to talk using your new telephone system is beyond what I can understand now. When I do finally reach a human, I am shuffled from one person to another with out getting results. My husband has tried unsuccessfully to advocate for me with your office people. I am now falling daily because I cannot walk safely using a walker and I can not push myself using a manual chair. I am alone while my husband is at work or needs to run errands. I still have no power chair. My insurance expires today! December 31. I am beyond disappointed and am now hopeless that I will ever receive any kind of quality or compassionate health care anywhere. You used to be such a wonderful, caring medical provider. I used to recommend you as the place to go for anybody with any neurological problems in Massachusetts. What happened to you???? My new years resolution is to learn how to accept being bed ridden and hoping I can find any home care agency who can come in occasionally do help me and give my poor overwhelmed husband some relief now that I am so totally dependent.
