TO THE SKEPTICS AND NAYSAYERS There are numerous independent sources of FACTS that support the Convention of States approach to using Article V of the Constitution to bypass the Washington power structure, rein in the out of control federal government, restrict its power, limit its jurisdiction, restore our liberties, and reestablish the sovereignty of the states. Four authoritative references listed below provide FACTS supporting the Article V state-led amendment process and thoroughly rebut the false beliefs of skeptics and anti-Article V anti-Constitutional naysayers. 1. The Other Way To Amend The Constitution: The Article V Constitutional Convention Amendment Process, Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, Vol 30, No. 3, by James Kenneth Rogers. 2. Congressional Research Services Report, The Article V Convention To Propose Constitutional Amendments: Contemporary Issues For Congress by Thomas H. Neale, Specialist in American National Government, July 9, 2012 3. Congressional Research Services Report The Article V Convention for Proposing Constitutional Amendments: Historical Perspectives for Congress, by Thomas H. Neale, Specialist in American National Government, July 10, 2012 4. Founding-Era Conventions and the Meaning of the Constitution’s “Convention for Proposing Amendments” from the Selected Works of Robert G. Natelson, Senior Fellow in Constitutional Jurisprudence at the Independence Institute, Denver, CO, and Professor of Law at the University of Montana (Ret) These references also provide links to other sources if one wishes to delve even further into proofs dispelling fear-mongering arguments of the anti-Constitutionalists. It has been said that FACTS are sturdy things and that anyone is entitled to their own opinion but they are not entitled to their own FACTS. When you come upon an argument against the Article V Constitutional process, a true patriot will analyze the rhetoric used. Start by separating out the demonizing, personal attacks, innuendo, fear mongering, bizarre conspiracy theories and hate speech. Of anything left, ask for the FACTS that support the naysayers propositions. You will generally find none of real substance. Or, as we learned in Grade School, “Consider the source.”
