Many Texans have worked hard on the Canine Encounter Training for Texas Peace Officers bill that mandates hands-on training for law enforcement members in non-lethal methods of handling dog encounters and CELEBRATION is very much earned and deserved! Congratulations on your achievements thus far in establishing a long-lasting WIN-WIN-WIN for Texas Canine Family Members - Texas Citizens - Texas Law Enforcement. The Texas FDS event on October 25, 2014 will still be held at the state capitol building in Austin starting at 12:00 noon until and people working on the Texas FDS event continue to work hard to help save animal lives by making the Texas FDS event a success. In keeping with the mission of FDS, the focus of the Texas FDS event remains raising PUPPYCIDE awareness and the need to implement programs for officials that will give them options other than lethal shootings when dealing with pets. Texas FDS supports training for Texas law enforcement in non-lethal methods of handling dog encounters and a hands on training course with standardized curriculum has proven to work in many areas. FDS and Texas FDS look forward to continued collaboration with those in Texas knowledgeable of the PUPPYCIDE issue as we all work to continue raising PUPPYCIDE awareness and helping at the national and inter-state levels to prevent PUPPYCIDE as soon as possible. We all are dedicated to helping other states establish their own WIN-WIN-WIN for their Canine Family Members – Citizens – Law Enforcement as quickly as they can. Ongoing dedication to collaboration and information sharing including what works and lessons learned will help minimize duplication of efforts in the same jurisdictions and will save as MANY canine family members as fast as possible.
