Go let the Denver City Council know that you care about your Constitutional rights, property rights, and privacy! (More details below!) WHEN: *Sign up to speak between 2:30 – 2:45 p.m. in Room 391. (GET THERE EARLY!) 3:00 p.m Meeting WHERE: 3rd Floor Council Conference Room, Room 391, City & County Building. The Denver draft ordinance violates the language and intent of A64 and RE-criminalizes marijuana use on your OWN private property. Under the new draft, open and public use would forbid outdoor locations that are visible from a public place. Smoking in a private backyard not visible from a public street would be legal. But consuming marijuana in the front yard or on a front porch, visible from the street, would be prohibited. This is extra problematic for parents who face the risk of child abuse charges by smoking inside their homes ever. They need to be able to smoke outside on their private property or go to an establishment/cigar bar type lounge or private club that permits consumption. If they are going to restrict consumption on private property, the city needs to allow venues to legally provide a place for people to go. It also violates the explicit language of Amendment 64 by making it unlawful to display marijuana in public places, Amendment 64 specifically states that display shall not be unlawful.” BE THERE!
