☆☆TODAY IN HIP HOP HISTORY☆☆ 》HAPPY BIRTHDAY YAKI KADAFI《 October 9th – Yaki Kadafi was born Yafeu Akiyele Fula in Montclair, New Jersey on this day in 1977. Both of Kadafi’s parents were members of The Black Panther Party For Self Defense. Kadafi’s father Sekou Odinga was arrested and charged with several felonies including assisting in the escape of political prisoner Assata Shakur from the Clinton Correctional Facility For Women in Union Township, New Jersey in 1979. Kadafi, from the age of four, along with his siblings, was raised solely by his mother. Kadafi’s parents were involved with The Black Panthers along with Tupac Shakur’s parents, which resulted in the two boys becoming best friends. In 1994, he formed the group Dramacydal with friend Mutah “Napoleon” Beale and 2Pac. Kadafi, who was 16 years-old at the time, took the stage name Young Hollywood. Dramacydal appeared on 2Pac’s third album, “Me Against The World”, in 1995. In 1996, Kadafi and 2Pac took members of Dramacydal and another earlier 2Pac group called Thug Life and formed Outlaw Immortalz. They appeared on 2Pac’s diamond selling double album, “All Eyez On Me”, on Death Row Records in 1996. The group shortened their name to simply Outlawz when they appeared on 2Pac’s next album, “The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory”, released only two months after his death from a fatal shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Most of the members of Outlawz took their stage names from political revolutionaries. Outlawz’s members were, 2Pac a.k.a. Makaveli, K-Dog a.k.a. Kastro, Big Malcolm a.k.a E.D.I. Mean, Bruce Washington a.k.a. Hussein Fatal, Mutah Beale a.k.a. Napoleon, Big Syke a.k.a. Mussolini, Mopreme Shakur a.k.a. Komani, who was also 2Pac’s brother, Rufus Cooper III a.k.a. Young Noble and the only female member Storm, who was not named after a revolutionary. Just two months after 2Pac’s murder, Kadafi was shot to death in Orange, New Jersey. Kadafi left behind twin daughters, who had not yet been born at the time of his murder. Kadafi, coincidentally, was named as a witness to 2Pac’s murder in Las Vegas just two months prior. The voices of his daughters can be heard on several tracks of his posthumous and only solo album released “Son Rize Vol.1” on Havenotz Entertainment Records in 2004. Outlawz would go on to release nine albums after Kadafi and Pac’s deaths between 1999 and 2006, including a collaboration set with the latter in 1999, which was the only one Kadafi appeared on. The groups also released a collaboration album with dead prez in 2006 called “Can’t Sell Dope Forever”. Outlawz have also released several digital albums, mixtapes and a DVD in 2002 called “Outlawz: Worldwide”. #ocas #WRWG #YakiKadafi #Outlaws #Tupac #RIP HAPPY BIRTHDAY YAKI KADAFI
