TODAY IN HIPHOP: On this day in 1968, Corey Penn a.k.a. CL Smooth of the infamous Pete Rock & CL Smooth, was born. After the Hiphop crew parted ways in 1995, CL Smooth remained musically inactive. During this particular time he declined to guest on other artist albums. However, by 2005 he had contributed vocals to a few tracks by rappers like AZ, J.R. Writer, and Nujabes. In 2007, he released the solo debut American Me.
