TODAY IN HISTORY August 2 1755 Surprise attack at Petcoudiac by Lt. Charles Deschamps against against British troops sent sent yto burn the villages of Chipoudie, Petcoudiac and Memramcook which force the withdrawl of British troops with heavy loses. The nonetheless capture 30 woman and children and succeeded at destroying 235 buildings and a large quantity of wheat. More than 200 families of the region were able to escape the deportation.
