TODAY IS PENTACOST ----------------------- Today we celebrate the feast of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit - the 3rd person of the Holy Trinity - on the apostles of our Lord 50 days after His Resurrection (penta=5), as recorded in the 5th book of the New Testament - in the Book of Acts - chapter 2, and as foretold by Christ in his farewell speech in the Gospel according to St. John. This feast has 3 MAJOR significances (at least): 1- It is the founding of the Church: the many became one, while preserving the talents of each. 2- It is a revelation of the role & function of the Holy Spirit in our lives: to empower & cleanse us, to ourselves be the apostles of our Lord. 3- To continously be reminded that we need the Spirit of God to dwell in Him all the time, since He was revealed in Jesus and continues to live in us through the Holy Spirit - if we allow Him.
