TODAY PANCAKES! PARADE! & MUCH MORE! August 2nd 2014 marks the Sidney Fire Department’s 100th Year Anniversary. To celebrate this, there is a full day’s worth of events planned. Head to the Mary Winspear Centre at 9:00AM for a PANCAKE BREAKFAST hosted by the Lions Club. At 11:00AM, the Sea King will flyover Beacon and the Firehall siren will sound to announce the beginning of a PARADE down Beacon Avenue with over 65 operational and antique fire trucks from all over BC, and Washington State. Following the parade, all trucks will then be on display on Beacon until 3:00PM for the community to view and meet the firefighters. There will be LIVE demonstrations at Beacon Park and the parking lot next to the Sidney Firehall station for KIDS to spray water. There is also an OPEN HOUSE at the Sidney Museum where the story of the SVFD depicted through models, artifacts, pictures and articles. There will even be some LEGO on display! -Distinctly Sidney
