! TODAY ! Sabbat of the first Harvest LUGHNASADH - Lammas, Cornucopia, Thingtide, Festival of Light, Latha Lunasdal - celebrated on the 1st of August on the Northern hemisphere. Lughnasadh falls midway between Summer Solstice and Autumnal Equinox and is the cross-quarter holiday of the ancient Druids, nowadays celebrated by Wiccans, Heathens and some other pagan groups. It is one of the 8 Sabbats in the Wheel of the Year and the first in the trilogy of harvest festivals: Lughnasadh, Mabon and Samhain. Lughnasadh is time to celebrate the abundance, Sun and our connection to the Nature; it reminds us to keep close relationship with the Mother Earth to maintain balance and gratitude. When Wheel of the Year turns to Lughnasadh, the days suddenly seem to shorten and the nights grow longer. Lughnasadh is a harvest celebration named for Lugh (Irish), Llew (Welsh), Lug (Britonic), or Lugus - the Celtic Sun God. Before the soon beginning dark, cold season celebrating Lughnasadh shows the Gods, that the people truly appreciate the bounty given to them. Lughnasadh is known to non-Celts as Lammas: loaf mass, which celebrates the bread made from the first grain to be harvested. This is the time of corn festivals, harvest events and corn dances. In Europe the big Corn Mother was made from the last sheaves of corn harvested; as the Spirit of Great Mother was believed to be embodied in these. That corn doll would be then kept safe through winter and then buried in the spring, when sowing the fields. It is essential - to the modern people too - to strengthen this connection to the Nature, to notice what is happening around us and to take a moment of appreciation, to count the blessings which we have received during the year so far; its the perfect time to spiritually recharge ourselves for the long darker months. )O( ALL THAT FALLS SHALL RISE AGAIN )O( copyright 2014-2022 Inari A-K Kon Stewart, Pierre Seville, Robbie Mueller, Shannah Coningburk, Jonathan MacLean-Lambie, Cameron Roach, Soikku Soilander, Jenny Hellman, Marvin Lee Billings, Martin Krogh-Poulsen, Frater Mocata, Alejandro Ls, Alfredo Chavarri Salazar, Marie Lecrivain, Guiseppe Gavazza, Amanda M Knecht, Molly VanDyke, Becky Abare, Pagan Heart, Ingrid Robertson, Mary Driscoll, Birgit Thurston, Tiago Loureiro, El Lobo, Shakti Laura, Gunnar Lundgren, Santi Alarcón, Tanya Caballero, Marlon Guerreiro, Antero Pacheco
