TODAY THURSDAY AUGUST 15, 2013 2 Chronicles 20:1-3 Now it came about after this that the sons of Moab and the sons of Ammon, together with some of the Meunites, came to make war against Jehoshaphat. 2 Then some came and reported to Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, out of Aram and behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar (that is Engedi).” 3 Jehoshaphat was afraid and turned his attention to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. Thought for the Day: Jehoshaphat Turned His Attention To Seek The Lord Application for the Day: You Can Win Your Battles By Seeking The Lord. Jehoshaphat was the king of Judah and was the great, great, great grandson of king David. Jehoshaphat walked in the earlier ways of king David by seeking after God and obeying the commandments of the Lord (2 Chr 17:3-4). During his reign as king three heathen nations arose against Jehoshaphat to go to war with him. To put you in his frame of mind just consider if you were the governor of the state you currently live in, just imagine hearing three neighboring states coming to war with you and the pressure you may feel. Hearing about the great multitude he faced and being out numbered in battle, Jehoshaphat became afraid (2 Chr 20:3). My friends, in the midst of our battles, the first thing we must do is the Seek the Lord. Those whom fear the Lord must turn to Him for help. Many people seek the Lord as a last option in their time of need. Some solicit help in fighting their battles fromT.V. shows, psychic hotlines and from un-spiritual friends who are incapable of giving spiritual advice to help them win their battles. What are the battles in your life? What battles are you struggling with that have hindered you from achieving your goals? What has stopped you from being the person you know you ought to and can be? Remember, you can win your battles by seeking the Lord.
