TODAY’S SCRIPTURE 12/3/14 “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go before thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee” (Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV). CHANGING OF THE GUARD It was a crisp, cool, sunny DAY in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. A certain FAMILY was standing by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier GIVING their RESPECT to the significance of this historic marker. They STOOD in awe as they watched the GUARD march with precision and perfection back and forth before the tomb. Then to the far right, they HEARD the cadence of marching SOLDIERS led by a strikingly stern-looking sergeant. Upon REACHING the monument, the sergeant BARKED his orders after which the GUARDS, without losing a STEP, changed their POSITIONS and the NEW guard took over the lonely VIGIL. I remember observing this moving event several years ago. Moses had lived 120 years. God had USED him as a channel of leadership and deliverance for Israel. After the Red Sea, Sinai, the wilderness journey, all Israel was now FACING the CHANGING of the guard. Joshua was CHOSEN of God to be the successor. At this time Moses SPOKE the WORDS found in Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT): “So be strong and COURAGEOUS! Do not be AFRAID and do not PANIC before them. For the Lord your God will personally GO AHEAD of you. He will neither FAIL you nor ABANDON you.” APPLICATION Life is filled with CHANGES, yet one of the most FEARFUL experiences of life is learning how to DEAL with those changes. Whether it is life or death, joining or separation, leading or following, all of these can be PART of the vicissitudes of daily life. But God who never CHANGES can help us to ACCEPT the changes in our own lives. –GWFT— Have an Awesome and Blessed Day!!!! JM
