## TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST ## SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for HEAVY RAINFALL For people in parts of the Northern Tropical Coast and Tablelands Forecast District. Issued at 8:05 pm Saturday, 8 February 2014. Synoptic Situation: Heavy rainfall has been recorded in the area for the past several days. Showers and isolated thunderstorms associated with a surface trough are expected to lead to a potential increase the rainfall intensity in many locations in the warned area in the next several hours. Six hour totals of 200-300mm are possible. These conditions are likely to exacerbate the existing flood situation and may lead to flash flooding. Locations which may be affected include Innisfail, Cardwell and Tully. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
