TOP TEN TIPS on what to really expect on a CCC : What Phil says and what Phil means can occasionally be quite distant from one n other, so says David Firth. It has been brought to my attention that i am sometimes misinterpreted at my briefings. new riders should be warned; apparently. One CCC rider has taken the initiative of providing a few tips on translation. here are his Top Ten Tips to help you:- 1. Theres a chance of rain = it will pour all day 2. Lovely views on the climb = if you can take your teeth off the bars, you can see a long way 3. A couple of bumps and youre home = after 105 miles there are two climbs 15 miles apart. Back home these would be rated challenging. 4. We had a few late-finishers on this stage last year = unless you ride at pro-peloton pace you will need full night-riding equipment 5. The descent is a bit technical = you would be better on a Fat Bike 6. This is a 40 minute climb = (on a motobike) 7. Pedalling-downhill = uphill 8. Fun climb = NOT fun at all 9. Great climb = ready to suffer? 10. Best climb of the day = you will hallucinate
