#TOPEKATRAFFIC I-70 from Gage Boulevard to MacVicar Avenue ROLLING ROADBLOCK TRAFFIC ALERT for Sunday, November 2, 2014 in Topeka (Shawnee County) EXPECT MINOR DELAYS! WEEKEND DAY ROLLING ROADBLOCK: Eastbound and westbound I-70 from Gage Boulevard to MacVicar Avenue will experience minor delays (approximately 10-15 minutes) as traffic is stopped briefly via a rolling (moving) roadblock for the removal of an overhead Westar transmission line on Sunday, November 2 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., weather permitting, in Topeka (Shawnee County). In addition, the southbound U.S. 75 to eastbound I-70/Gage Boulevard ramp will be closed briefly prior to and during the rolling roadblock. Local law enforcement and the traffic control contractor will conduct the rolling roadblock to safely guide traffic on I-70 as Westar crews work to remove the overhead transmission line from across the interstate (near MacVicar Avenue). The rolling (moving) roadblock is scheduled to take approximately 10-15 minutes, pending any unplanned delays. Traffic will travel through the work zone via signage, flaggers and law enforcement vehicles via the rolling roadblock. Drivers should expect a delay of up to 15 minutes during the rolling roadblock and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible. Updated traffic information for this utility project work and the entire Topeka Metro Area can be viewed at: ksdot.org/topekametro/laneclose.asp. The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
