TOPIC: Prompt Obedience Saturday 25, October 2014 TEXT: Psalm 119:57-64 Key verse: “I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments” (Psalm 119:60). The world of today is a world of technology - cable networks, satellite transmissions, mobile phones, Internet and huge communication possibilities. Too many distractions in the world appear to be pushing people farther afar from the things of God, so much that obedience to the word of God is not given the deserved consideration. The believer thus stands the danger of paying too little attention to courting the favour of God. Sometimes, man becomes self-satisfied and self-fulfilled simply because he can easily afford the basic necessities of life, enjoy some privileges as a result of family background, educational attainment or political connections. But when we turn away from self or man to God and concede to Him everything we have, we begin to experience His matchless love and favour. The passage today gives us an insight into the decision and determination of a man who decided to make God His all in all; made God’s word the centre point of his life; obeyed God and associated with godly people. Our perception of and purposes in life determine our preferences and choices. We must, like the Psalmist and others, hasten to do the will of God at all times. A life of deep devotion and prompt obedience will strengthen our relationship with the Almighty for our temporal and eternal benefit. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Only a rebellious son argues with his father when he says “go”.
