TRADOC’s Training Brain Operations Center (TBOC) Releases Training Brain Repository Exercise Design Tool (TBR-EDT) ~ The Training Brain Operations Center (TBOC), a TRADOC G-2 directorate, has worked to bring additional capability to the Training Brain Repository Exercise Design Tool (TBR-EDT) since its initial Beta release in November 2013. The TBR-EDT is a game changer for Army trainers, compressing months to days or days to hours, significantly reducing the amount of time needed to design an exercise that includes a more accurately replicated Operational Environment. The TBR-EDT automates the exercise design process as described in Training Circular 7-101, Exercise Design. It is a web-based application that gives trainers and commanders the ability to tailor exercises that reflect the expected operational environment and address unit training objectives. TBOC released TBR Version 1.0 (TBR v1) in July 2014, as the first operational update to TBR-EDT. TBR-EDT Version 1.1 (EDT v1.1), released on 18 September 2014, brings a substantial increase in capabilities, including operations order, mapping and operational military graphics, task organization, and operational variable searchable storylines. With this updated version, the commander and staff can: • Develop one or more complete higher headquarters’ operations orders in accordance with Army Field Manual 6-0, Commander and Staff Organization and Operations. • Add images and hyperlinks within the operation order, annexes, appendixes, and tabs. • Create warning orders and fragmentary orders. • Develop multi-layered overlays and graphics (Mission Command, Movement & Maneuver, Intelligence, Fires, Sustainment, Protection, Units, and custom) allowing multiple users to develop their operational graphics at the same time. • Bulk-remove items (units, tactical graphics, etc.) from the map. • Create geographically registered screenshots of maps / pictures and save them to the user’s computer. • Task organize host nation and coalition units for Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE). • Visually see attached and detached unit notations within the task organization. • Tag and search storylines and events by operational variables (political, military, economic, social, infrastructure, information, physical environment, and time [PMESII-PT]).
