TRAFFIC ADVISORY Initiation of special drive w.e.f. 10.09.2014 to ensure compliance of wearing of helmets by women, driving or riding pillion on two wheelers To ensure compliance of the amendment made by Transport Department, GNCT of Delhi vide notification No. F.19(38)/Tpt./Sectt./2011/176 dated 28th August, 2014 in Rule 115(2) of the Delhi Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993 making it mandatory for all women (except Sikh women), driving or riding pillion on two-wheelers in the NCT of Delhi, the Delhi Traffic Police shall initiate a special drive w.e.f. 10.09.2014 100 teams shall be deployed at institutional areas, office complexes, market places, malls, commercial centres and important intersections such as Nehru Place, Rajendra Place, Connaught Place, Rajouri Garden, Vasant Vihar, Kamla Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Vikas Marg, Karol Bagh, Dwarka, Najafgarh Road, Mall Road, Aurobindo Marg etc. to ensure compliance of law and prosecute women (except Sikh women) who are found not wearing helmets while driving or pillion riding on two-wheelers. All women who drive two-wheelers or ride on pillion are requested that in the interest of their safety and safety of other motorists on the roads, they follow traffic rules & regulations and wear standard helmets w.e.f. 10.09.2014 while driving or riding pillion on two-wheelers.
