TRAFFIC ALERT: Construction will begin Monday, January 27th for re-routing of Southgate Road to the south to facilitate the lengthening of the north-south runway at Woodring Regional Airport. Specifically, that portion of Southgate road running between the 58th to 62nd blocks (directly south of Woodring Airport) will be re-built. The new portion will then curve to the south providing the required clearance from the extended runway. According to Airport Director Dan Ohnesorge, the entire project will take about five months. While work is being performed on or adjacent to the current road, it will be narrowed to one lane. Ohnesorge stated, “Temporary traffic controls will be used to control traffic during that period which should last a couple days.” Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution near the construction project area.
