TRANSPARENCY WAS THE BUZZ WORD IN THE LAST ELECTION AND LOOK WHERE THAT GOT US......NOWHERE...WERE IN THE SAME RUT. First, former NN President Joe Shirley is running for re-election on the premise that hes been cleared of any wrong doings. Hate to burst his bubbles but we recieved a report that he misused tribal funds (and this has yet to be brought forward) when he was the President. Apparently, he directed funds within the Navajo Department of Justice Litigation Account for his own defense and litigation. As of last week, those funds have not been completely accounted for and the Controller is refusing to release any information. Next, and Ive tried to withihold my disdain on this but WHY IS THE RESOURCE & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE holdings its woksession on the proposed Navajo Land Improvement Act in Phoenix???????? The entire Navajo People are not even aware of this proposed legislation. Im certain that not all 110 Navajo Nation Chapters are even aware of this - as we learned at the Fort Defiance Agency Council meeting on March 8th!!! It was interesting to note that the March 14 memorandum from RDC is coming from the Chairperson (K. Benally) and approved by johnny naize. The two conspirators!! (The NN Agriculture Department needs to hold the same work session for all chapter officials as well as the Navajo People on the Navajo Nation!!!) Navajo People, this move by the current Speaker is a message that he can do what he wants with our money while our eldelry, Veterans, low-income, and children continue to struggle. Its a message that clearly says he can thwart the second legislation to remove him from this position. It also illustrates the obvious - he can use the Office of the Speaker in any way he wants - by approving this ridiculous and costly trip to Phoenix for his office, legislative staff, DOJ staff, Agriculture Department staff, etc. I wonder if it was open to the public. Im done venting...... WE NEED CHANGE IN OUR GOVERNMENT!!! So please get ready to vote in the August Primary Election and General Election in November and make that change!!!!
