TRASTEVERE. Literally translated, Trastevere means across the Tiber and it remains about the most tightly knit community in Rome with itsinhabitants that descend from the ancient Romans. In the Middle Ages Trastevere wasnt considered part of Rome and foreigners populated it. The real trasteverini are still here and this area is really romantic and evocative. Piazza S. Maria in Trastevere is a sort of outdoor living room, open to all comers. A walk to Trastevere brings you back to the past. There is no other place in the world that gives you such emotions. Rome is everything and much more.....
