TROOP TO TEACHERS An announcement on the Troops to Teachers scheme was made by Department for Education (DfE) on Friday 7 Jun. The scheme is a DfE initiative and the Services await further detailed information. What can service leavers bring to the teaching profession? What is Troops to Teachers? A range of incentives is now available for graduate service leavers, as well as a new route into teaching for non-graduate service leavers (Troops to Teachers non-graduate programme). The department launched this in June 2013 in partnership with the MOD’s resettlement contractor, Career Transition Partnership (CTP), and a consortium of outstanding universities and schools, led by the University of Brighton. The best information available is currently on the CTP website https://troopstoteachers.ctp.org.uk/ Non-graduates should note that The Troops to Teachers non-graduate programme starts in January 2014. The application process opens on 13 June 2013. The application deadline is 20 September 2013.
