TRUE DETECTIVE took a hard left turn from cop show to horror movie last night, with the inclusion of Chambers THE KING IN YELLOW. A meta play within a book written a 130 years ago, which influenced the entire HP Lovecraft mythology. The play is about an infamous Yellow King, and is said to contain knowledge so profane, so illuminating, that simply reading it, and learning its secrets of the world, would drive you insane, much like Lovecrafts Necromonicon. The Yellow King is, on his surface, upright and noble, but peel back his skin, and open his closed doors, and you discover the monster he really is underneath, ruiling over a court of debauchery and blood rituals, who practices the dark arts in exchange for power. Pretty black territory were traveling into now.
