TRUST SOMEONE AS FAR AS YOU COULD THROW HIM: Meaning and origin: An indication of profound mistrust. This hyperbolic metaphor dates from about 1870 and presumably alludes to an individual too heavy to pick up and toss. (In other words, not a small child but a very big one). I used this cliche this morning in my correspondence with someone and I meant every word of it. (Truth be told), I couldnt trust this individual (if my life depended on it). In the parenthesis are two more cliches to share! LOL
