TTMC at BTM Layout to be built under JNNURM Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has planned to build a bus station at Kalasipalya and a travel and a transit management centre (TTMC) at BTM Layout in the next two years. ‘Will use own funds’ Transport Minister and BMTC chairperson Ramalinga Reddy told presspersons here on Friday that at a recent meeting of the board, approval was given to the proposal for construction of a bus station at Kalasipalya at a cost of Rs. 209 crore using its own funds. The Minister said that the BMTC had handed over 218 acres of its land on the outskirts of the city to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in exchange of 14 acres and 35 guntas of BBMP land within the city, including 4 acres and 13 guntas of land at Kalasipalya. Mr. Reddy said that the bus-stand at Kalasipalya was in bad shape, and a new one in its place would be of great help to people. While BMTC operates 6,302 trips from Kalasipalya and K.R. Market, KSRTC operates 584 trips every day. Nod for TTMC In a related move, BMTC has has finalised its plan for construction of a travel and transit management centre (TTMC) on its 2-acre BTM Layout bus station land. The basement, ground plus four-floor centre would be built at a cost of Rs. 60 crore, and it would be funded by the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The site is abutting the inner ring road that witnesses heavy vehicular movement and it is close to Hosur Road. So the proposed TTMC will help reduce private vehicles to a large extent because of the park and ride facility to be provided there, said Mr. Reddy.
