TUES NEWS BRIEF … 24 09 2013 Editor’s Pick – Item Four ONE THE DIGITAL MIGRATION TENDER PROCUREMENT PROCEDURE WAS FOLLOWED - MALUPEMGA Former Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga has dispelled allegations that the procurement procedure for the tender on the supply, delivery and commissioning of the national digital terrestrial television broadcasting system in Zambia was not followed. Mr. Malupenga who is now Western Province PS says there was nothing wrong with the procurement procedure of the tender explaining that him and everyone who was involved worked in accordance with the required guidelines and that they will be vindicated at a later stage. His comments comes after the recent announcement of the cancellation of the tender by his successor Emmanuel Mwamba who said the procurement procedure for the digital migration tender was not followed In a phone interview with Oblate Radio Liseli News today, the provincial PS said allegations that he did not follow the right procedure in the procurement process are wrong and that the truth of the matter will come out soon…. TWO GOVERNMENT SAYS THE 2014 NATIONAL BUDGET WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON OCT. 11, 2013 Government will announce the 2014 national budget on friday11th October, 2013. THREE FORMER BRE NGAMBELA APPREHENDED BY POLICE Former Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) Ngambela Clement Sinyinda was this morning picked-up by a team of Zambia police officers. Both reliable police sources and a very close family member to the former traditional leader confirmed the development to Oblate Radio Liseli News this afternoon. The family member said Mr. Sinyinda was picked up at his home around 10:00 hours by several police officers who surrounded his Sido residence. It is not clear the reasons behind his picking up but it is believed to be in connection with current issues surrounding the Barotse question….. FOUR UPND QUESTION AWARDING CRITERIA OF CDF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO PF COUNCILOR The United Party for National Development in Western Province says Kanyoyo Ward Councilor Bright Tombi’s construction company ‘Amutahe Construction Enterprise’ was not qualified to be awarded a construction contract for Mutalaiti and Ndau schools. In an interview UPND Vice Provincial Youth Chairman Mbangu Mbangu lamented that if PF was fighting corruption, it should lead by example by arresting Mr. Tombi and Mongu Central MP Nathaniel Mubukwanu for awarding the contract to someone like Mr. Tombi, a member of the CDF committee. But when contacted for a comment Mr. Tombi said his firm is qualified and registered adding that he employed qualified staff to construct teachers’ houses and classroom blocks at the two schools. Mr. Tombi added that Mr. Mbangu was in MMD and defected to UPND, and that in Imwiko, the market has failed to be completed because they contracted a wrong contractor and accused him of just lacking means of stealing.…..
