TUESDAY, Oct 15, 2013 #TeamSpirit Nehemiah 4:6 So we rebuilt the wall...because the people had a mind [were committed, motivated, excited, enthusiastic, determined, focused] to work Many good works have been looked upon with contempt by proud and haughty scorners; the likes of Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem. Nehemiah didnt answer them according to their folly, but looked up to God by prayer who strengthened their hands to build. Good leadership is core to successful teamwork. The right motivation will always make team members to take the leaders vision personal. Nehemiah only sold them his vision; and they said to one another, Let us arise and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work (2:18). Exemplary leadership founded on integrity will always birth loyal following. Motivate them with your words. Show genuine concern and love for them. Be at the forefront of the battle; and watch them conquer Rome for you! No task, no matter how huge, is insurmountable to a rightly motivated team. This determined focused disposition of a united people is what is referred to as team spirit. Rancour, misunderstanding, quarrels, grudges, and maligning, all wreck team performance. Be careful how you set out building your work. If laid on the strong foundation of unity, it will sail through the strongest tides of scorn, mocking, threats, or conspiracy. But if built on a wrong/shaky foundation of in-fightings, the team will keep failing in its assignments, even with the presence of individual geniuses in the team because a house divided against itself cannot stand (Matt.12:25). Note that the enemy thrives where dis-unity abounds. While building your dream, avoid distractions. Focus on your task at hand. Distractions come to slow your pace, and ultimately to stop you from attaining your set goal. Instead, let their insults, scorn, and mocking stimulate you rather than make you feel less confident of your abilities. The reproach of enemies should quicken you to duty, not drive you from your dream. Strengthen your resolve to win, and the God of all grace will lead you to victory. LET US PRAY: Lord, I resolve to be a helpful team player in my team. I will foster oneness, not discord. In Jesus name. Amen.
