TURLOCK QB SEAN DOWNS ONE OF THE ATTRACTIONS AT PATTERSON 7X7 TOURNEY - NO RUN, ALL PASS! The Patterson High Passing Tournament starts at 9 a.m. on the Tigers’ beautiful all-purpose turf, with those cool palm trees as the backdrop. There are eight teams coming, split into four-team pools. Black Hat’s plan is to be on the field Saturday, so check us out on Twitter during the morning and early afternoon as we follow the action. You can check out the sophomore highlights from Patterson junior Damien Paulo ... youtube/watch?v=IQtxXrQHBHQ ... who came up late in the season to make a few throw for the varsity last fall. The host Tigers, Livingston, Ripon and Sierra are playing in the south end zone, while Manteca, Orestimba, Pacheco and Turlock are in the north end zone. It looks like the second- and third-place teams meeting in the first round of the playoffs – with the winners facing the pool champions at 1 p.m. The championship game is at 1:30 p.m. Livingston, Patterson, Ripon and Sierra are in the South bracket, with Manteca, Orestimba, Pacheco and Turlock in the North bracket. It starts at 9 a.m., with Patterson playing Livingston and Orestimba facing Manteca. Great chance to see Turlock QB Sean Downs, a dual-purpose threat heading into his senior year, and hopefully Bulldogs’ tight end Patrick Green will be there, too. Sierra’s got a sharp QB in Jake Pruitt, Livingston went with strong-armed sophomore CJ Avila last fall, while Orestimba relied on junior QB Tanner Prott to go with 1,900-yard rusher Steven Machado.
