TV programs - unlike columns in print - instantaneously reach out to thousands of people but bringing message is more difficult in television than in print, in this program I wanted to clarify that history is made of odd choices, and quiet contrary to what many politicians and pseudo-intellectuals keep on saying there are no clear and sure formulas for the success, most situations confront us without many choices, 9/11 didnt offer us many choices; we had no option but to stand with the US and the International community, this had many risks or perhaps disasters built into it, but we had no choice - this is not even a question of being strong or week; US despite all its power and influence has no choice but to leave Afghanistan without any credible means of ensuring the sustainability of the structure it built - this is the verdict of history and geography, India despite the bravado of Modi will soon realize i Its limitations. ... One fundamental mistake which many politicians, and soon almost all media did was to create the public perception that we had many choices at the eve of 9/11, this lead to the false belief that we could somehow go back in a time machine and undo the perceived mistakes and once we do it then things will be hunky doory once again;and they lived happily ever after... I think the difficult decisions of 9/11 and the consequences exposed the inherent weaknesses of what I call this Mama Chacha culture; TTP and other sectarian organizations are Anarchists with guns, there are yet other anarchists in media, civil society, in politics and legal community; they have all tasted blood, and they operate through the holes and fissures of the system, they all enjoy their empowerment and will not like to fit into any order - the only way forward is to modernize our institutions to help us tame these forces and agents of anarchy, these institutions range from NACTA, to modern Police Forces to Genuine Political parties to regulators like PEMRA, the current Mama Chacha Political System will not succeed against these challenges. I dont think this came out of the program
