TWENTY-TWO YEARS AGO TODAY I almost lost my life for him, my one - TopicsExpress

TWENTY-TWO YEARS AGO TODAY I almost lost my life for him, my one and only son KEVIN. I labored for many hours, went down on my knees pleading for the doctor to do a CS. Because of excruciating pain, I howled and screamed, causing hospital people, patients and watchers to troop to where all the squealing was coming from. On that Sunday, the head obstetrician had to be roused from his sleep, You should know from the pelvimetry how big that childs head is! No matter what you do, he will never come out the natural way, I heard him say as he admonished the resident doctor. From the Army General Hospital in Fort Bonifacio I was rushed to the V. Luna Medical Center in Quezon City, the ambulance doing a counterflow to save my sons and my own dear life. I recalled the other frantic attempts to save us. At one point I heard the doctors say, Ipakita nyo na! Iba na ang kulay, iba na ang kulay! I didnt know who they were referring to, but I managed to glance at my arms and saw them turning purple, Oh, God, oh God, was all that I could say, as I slid into oblivion. I woke up at the Recovery Room, was assured by the female doctor that my son was okay. She told me I was mumbling, in English all the time, like I was going back to childhood, and that I was asking her not to leave me. She said she had stayed by my side for almost twelve hours. In that short while that we talked, she prayed for me. I recall asking her if she was a (born-again) Christian, and she said yes. She said she attended Grace Christian Fellowship. Comforted by what she said, I again slid into oblivion. I woke up a few hours after and saw six or more doctors surrounding my hospital bed. We almost lost you, the head doctor said. To all these nameless and faceless people, thank you for saving the life of the boy who has brought so much happiness into our lives, one who has grown up to be a most loving and kind person. To everyone who continues to help me raise him and considers him as their own, I cannot thank you enough. Please accept my humblest thanks, especially for loving him as I do.
