TWO KINDS OF HAPPINESS Happiness has many meanings, depending, of course, on each of us. One might say, however, that there are basically two kinds of happiness. The most common kind arises when we put on blinders, fashioned from comforting spiritual or secular concepts and beliefs, to avoid seeing and feeling uncertainty in our viewpoints and our lives. Then there is the kind of happiness, extremely rare, that arises when we are willing and able to see, feel, and even welcome the uncertainty that is an integral part of the dance of life and death.
