TWO PRISONERS ESCAPE FROM CHIKURUBI AFTER ATTACKING GUARD WITH A HOE & STEALING HIS UNIFORM Two prisoners have attacked a guard and escaped from Chikurubi Prison. Police say the pair are dangerous criminals who must be apprehended. ZRP Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said Carington Mutambarika (21) and Brighton Tshuma (22) escaped on Tuesday. The two escaped from Chikurubi Prison farm where they were working after attacking a prison officer with a hoe and robbed him off his uniform. The prison officer who was attacked is admitted at Parirenyatwa hospital. Chief Superintendent Nyathi said Mutambarika was serving a seven year imprisonment term for robbery after being convicted in 2010, while Tshuma was serving a four year term for 12 counts of unlawful entry and theft after being convicted in 2011. He said anyone with information leading to the arrest of the two criminals must report to the nearest police station.
