TWO VEHICLE HEAD ON COLLISION - This morning at approximately 10:20 am Clallam 2 Fire Rescue responded to this two vehicle head on collision on West Highway 101 near Lairds Corner. On arrival US Border Patrol Agents along with Clallam County Sheriffs Office deputies were on scene. WSP and WSDOT responded as well and at this time WSP is continuing their investigation. We understand one Eastbound vehicle crossed the center line striking a Westbound sedan. Both drivers were evaluated, then removed from their vehicles and transported by Clallam 2 Fire Rescue Medics to Olympic Medical Center. Coordination among responding agencies including Peninsula Communications (PenCom) was well organized. The EMS Trauma System was activated, Airlift NW was placed on standby and later launched with one patient flown to Harborview Trauma Center. This is the fourth accident in this section of highway in the last month. We remind drivers to slow down, drive with due regard especially during foggy days such as this. A special acknowledgement goes out to all the agencies who responded to this accident especially the US Border Patrol, Sheriffs Office, WSP, Elwha Tribal Police and PenCom.
