TYPHOON HAGUPIT Update #7: Hagupit has made landfall about - TopicsExpress

TYPHOON HAGUPIT Update #7: Hagupit has made landfall about 3hrs ago in Dolores, Eastern Samar as a Category 3 typhoon, packing maximum sustained winds of about 200kph. It is now over Masbate and will continue its track through Samar Sea just south of Albay enroute to Northern Mindoro before exiting toward West Philippine Sea as a Tropical Storm. Strong winds, storm surges, and heavy rains resulting to floods and landslides have already been reported in Samar/Leyte and Masbate. It looks as though the storm will completely miss NCR region. This means that we will only be experiencing some occasional gusts of wind accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall here in the capital. Steady rainfall is expected to pick up by sunday night and continuing through Tuesday afternoon (around 230mm total rainfall for the 3 days). About 180mm of rain is expected to fall on the capital on Monday alone, so flood-prone areas are still critically at risk for going underwater. For those who must go out on Monday despite bad weather conditions, it would be wise to keep yourselves warm as daytime temperatures will only get as high as 26C. If possible, it is also advisable to keep yourself updated with the latest happenings in Samar/Sorsogon/Masbate/Bicol region tonight and tomorrow, as these will make for a good benchmark as to what may happen here in Mindoro/Calabarzon/NCR area on Monday. Stay safe. Keep warm. Stock up on emergency supplies.
