Tahyor/Teah Team – 2015 GGAA Campaign November, 22, 2014 Press Release On November 15, 2014, the Election Commission, GGAA-2015 conducted candidate qualification assessment: The following aspirants from the Tahyor/Teah Team participated: Hon. Gbote O. Tahyor – Presidential Aspirant- Iowa Hon.Moses N. Teah – Vice Presidential Aspirant- Indiana Hon. Anthony G. Marh – National Secretary Aspirant- Arizona Ms. Victoria Grant- Treasurer Aspirant- Pennsylvania Ms. Angeline Shaka- Chaplain Aspirant – Minnesota Having gone through this rigorous process, on November 16, 2014 the Election Commission released the results from the qualifying exercise in which the National Secretary Aspirant, Hon. Anthony Marh and the Treasurer Aspirant, Ms. Victoria Grant were disqualified on the ground that they did not meet the constitutional requirement. We believe that the process carried out by IECOM is within the framework of the GGAA constitution and in purview of their functions as mandated by the National Conference. Although, Hon. Anthony Marh and Ms. Victoria Grant did not meet the constitutional yard stake for qualification in the view of the IECOM, the Tahyor/Teah Team still believes that they are competent and qualify to work in the interest of the people of Grand Gedeh. We want to underscore in this public manner here that there is a big difference between the issue of competence, qualification, and the ability to function in a position of trust than meeting the constitutional requirements. Hence, Ms. Victoria Grant and Hon. Anthony Marh are very qualified and have the passion to work in the interest of the people when the opportunity is given. The Tahyor/Teah Team believes that in any institutional setting the rule of law must be upheld. We are of the opinion that, while it is true that the Commission’s action was constitutional, our National Secretary Aspirant, Hon. Anthony Marh has contributed immensely to the activities and growth of GGAA, as a founding member and official of the Arizona Chapter. It is our conviction that this level of participation should have constituted enough reason to support his aspiration for larger leadership participation in the union. Similarly, the Treasurer, Ms. Victoria Grant who, in the view of the IECOM has met all requirements except for the convention attendance clause in the constitution, has done lots of volunteer services in her chapter and equally competent to serve in this capacity. However, we believe that two convention attendances should not only constitute sufficient determinant for active member participation to be the only yard used to disqualify a candidate from contesting a national position the GGAA. Although the Tahyor/ Teah Team bore the brunt of the constitutional provision through the disqualification of our competent and professional candidates, we remain committed to the rule of law and believe that the IECOM should be given the benefit of the doubt to carry out their functions as mandated by the national conference. It is therefore within this framework that the Tahyor/ Teah Team have decided to expeditiously tap into the vast pool of more supporters of our team and competent Grand Gedeans to replace the disqualified aspirants. For the position of National Secretary we are pleased to have Hon. Edward Tarr from the Illinois Chapter and for the position of Treasurer Hon. Jon-Alexander Kwiagaye from North Carolina. It is our mature opinion that the IECOM is not driving the electoral process into a slippery slope as other may allege. We are therefore calling upon the great people of Grand Gedeh to stay above the political fray to allow the process to play out. Thank you. Signed: Hon. Kai- Matthew Whyee, Team Manager.
