Taj directs setting up of Linear Accelerator at GMC Jammu SRINAGAR, JUNE 12: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din has directed establishment of Linear Accelerator used for treating patients with cancer at GMC, Jammu and has asked the Principal, GMC, Jammu to start construction of bunker for the same immediately. The direction came during a review meeting of GMC, Jammu and Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu held here today. The meeting was told that Rs. three crore have been received for the purpose from the Centre. Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed Principal, GMC, Jammu to prepare a proposal for its placement before Standing Rate Contract Committee for outsourcing the maintenance of toilets-cum-bathrooms in GMC Compound to Sulabh International in order to ensure proper sanitation. He also directed to initiate the tendering process for the purchase of various equipment’s and machinery for the Hospital immediately. The Minister also directed shifting of all staff members of GMC including Registrars to Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu in respect of Departments which are being shifted there. He impressed upon the management of these two hospitals to operationalize its working at the earliest. It was agreed in the meeting that upcoming super specialty Hospitals at Jammu and Srinagar would not be separate entities but part of family of associated hospitals of GMCs of Jammu and Srinagar Mr. Taj also directed submission of realistic budgetary proposals so that the hospitals run smoothly and do not face any difficulty due to non-availability of funds. Principal GMC, Jammu, Dr. Sheshi Gupta, Incharge Medical Superintendent, Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu and other officers were present in the meeting.
