Take Action: Combating Autism Act fails. Tell Rep. Cantor kids with autism deserve better Ask House Majority Leader Eric Cantor to hold H.R. 4631 - the Autism CARES Act of 2014. The former Combating Autism Act is up for re-funding in Congress. Tell Rep. Cantor you do not support this bill and it should not come to a floor vote in the House. Call Rep. Cantor and tell him that this bill has been a failure for 8 years and that the new language does not address any of the underlying problems. Despite his recent decision to step down for leadership of the House majority, he is still in control of this bill until the end of July. This renamed version of the Combating Autism Act, with no substantive changes, has produced nothing of use to families and individuals with autism: Not one case of autism has been prevented. Not one new treatment has been developed. CDC still refuses to call autism an epidemic. The CDC still cant figure out if the autism rate is going up.
