Take That star Gary Barlow joined soldiers for a dawn run around Camp Bastion during a morale-boosting visit to British personnel this week. The award-winning singer-songwriter spent three days experiencing life on the base while filming a musical concert for broadcast later this year. He met many of the thousands of British personnel who are serving on Operation Herrick 19, signing autographs and posing for photos and messages for loved ones in the UK. He said: “Its been amazing and inspiring; something Ive been wanting to do for a couple of years now. I cant believe we have actually done it and achieved it. Its a memory that will stay with me forever. Its been a privilege being here and meeting people who are serving so far from the UK.”
