*** Take a bigger bite out of Weekend breakfast on 702 and CapeTalk *** The Weekend Breakfast shows on Talk Radio 702 and 567 CapeTalk will be shifting focus from this Saturday, 19th July, to better reflect the vibrant regions that the stations broadcast to. Host, Africa Melane will share the big stories, from around the corner as well as across the globe. To ensure he has enough time to get into the meat of the discussion, he will have an extra hour to unpack the issues and Weekend Breakfast will now run from 06h00 to 10h00. In addition to more news, talk and information, Africa will be sharing what’s happening in our communities – the unmissable events, stories and happenings that listeners have to know about to get through the weekend. “Our listeners are busy people, with active social lives as well as family and community interests and they want to know what’s going on, even on the weekends,” said Melane. “We will be striving to make the shows as pacy and interesting as the audience we serve. There’s also been a change to the presentation of the regular DIY, gardening and pet features, which have been a hallmark of Weekend Breakfast for many years. These elements have a new home online at a dedicated destination, called ‘Now you know’. Now you Know will allow users to explore topics of interest to them, to ask questions to experts in the fields of DIY, Gardening and Pets, and to listen to the questions and answers that others have pitched to these gurus. “This allows us to offer our listeners a far greater depth of content and get many more questions answered than we are able to fit in on air,” said Pheladi Gwangwa, Talk Radio 702 station manager. In addition to giving users the freedom to search this portal at their own convenience, or as a question arises, those who wish to receive a newsletter that contains the highlights of the week can sign up and enjoy the weekly dose of gardening, pet and DIY news that they are used to receiving on air. Visit 702.co.za/features/NowYouKnow/home.asp to experiment with Now you Know. Now you Know is an addition to the already existing MONEY portal that offers personal finance advice and the stations hope to add more topics to these sections over the next few months. Weekend Breakfast will now broadcast from 06h00 to 10h00 on Saturdays and Sundays on Talk Radio 702, 567 CapeTalk and will be available on the apps for both stations.
