Take a bow Sean Moore! Probably doesnt come across in this video how integral his drumming was to holding The Manics Holy Bible gig together, but from one drummer to another, I can say it was a masterclass in driving a show, as opposed to just keeping it under control. Im sure hed been purposely turned up in the mix to levels he wouldnt usually be heard at, but his performance thumped you in the gut for 45 minutes, and was precisely what was needed to deliver this album the way it needed to be, as opposed to just being a nod to nostalgia! There was a danger, when they announced they would be playing a 20 year old album in full, that they would perhaps just phone it in whilst happily counting their money. That wouldnt be The Manics way though, and I have to agree with a review I read of the Glasgow gig, which pointed out the incongruence of a band rarely having sounded so energised and vibrant, just at a time that theyve decided to take a trip back in time. Ive been to see them too many times to pick my favourite gig, but last night has to be right up there! Brilliant!
