Take a look at Hebrews 13:6 “So we say with confidence. The Lord is my helper I will not be afraid. What can man do to me”. It is interesting that the verse states that we can say this with confidence. Confidence is being sure about something and able to declare it. In other words – I can be sure of God. I can rest in God. I can know because I know because I know that He is faithful. I can know that God is my helper. I can know that God is there in every situation (whether I feel him or not). I can know that I don’t need to be afraid for fear is not from God. Fear will focus me on the issue – confidence will focus me on God. When I focus on God then I realize that He alone is in control and there is ultimately nothing that man can do to me. In the end…God has the final say.
