Take action for Gaza today and this week: TODAY: Jewish Voice for Peaces monthly educational protest (which normally focuses on boycotting SodaStream, which is made in an illegal Israeli settlement on stolen Palestinian land) is from 2:00-3:30 in front of the Target store in Columbia Heights, DC. Monday night there will be a vigil in front of the White House during the Obama admin hosted Iftar (a fast-breaking celebration that happens during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan) at 7:00 pm organized by Ramah Kudaimi and Maha Hilal. The vigil will commemorate all Muslims suffering at the hands of the US, especially those incarcerated indefinitely without charge in Guantanamo prison, and the people of Gaza who are under brutal assault by the US-backed Israeli military. (Event: https://facebook/events/571099382999489/) Wednesday during the day there is an event at the New America Foundation from 12:30-2 called Israel, Gaza, and the Potential for a Diplomatic Resolution to the Violence featuring the amazing Noura Erakat (Event: newamerica.net/events/2014/israel_gaza_and_the_potential_for_a_resolution) Wednesday night at 6:00pm there will be an educational commemoration at the White House to honor those who have been killed in Gaza. We need people to hold [provided] signs with names on them, and a facebook event is forthcoming, so please mark your calendars! Next weekend, Christians United For Israel have their big conference and some folks might be putting together a counter conferece/teach-in/lobby day, so stay tuned for more info.
