Take extra care when cooking Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire in Edmunds Road, Banbury at 8.05 pm on Thursday 3 October 2013. Two fire engines attended, one from Banbury and one from Deddington. On arrival the crews discovered that there was a small fire in the ground floor kitchen caused by unattended cooking. Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a high pressure hose-reel and removed the smoke using a positive pressure fan. Crew Manager Simon Piper said: “Leaving cooking unattended could have terrible consequences for you and your home. You should have a working smoke alarm on each level of your home and test it once a week.”
