“Take the Limits Off, Part 1: It’s Time to Walk on Water” Matthew 14:23-33 Points of Power: 1. YOU GOTTA SEE GOD IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM! Peter was able to see God in the midst of the storm. Jesus had just fed the multitude of 5000 and He was ready to move forward. He put the disciples in the boat to help them head in the right direction. There was more work to do. Out of the 12 Disciples, Peter was the only one who got the revelation. He saw Jesus through the storm walking on the water and asked “Lord if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.” Although Peter had issues, he was still able to see God in the midst of the storm. 2. IF GOD CALLS YOU TO IT… THEN GOD WILL HELP YOU WALK THROUGH IT. If we move without release, we are moving out of the will of God. We must be willing to let go of familiar circumstances. Peter walked on water but when he saw the wind--- he began to sink. At the first sign of sinking, he cries out “Lord save me” and Jesus caught him. Peter was distracted by his circumstances after he made a decision to do something new. It was after he walked on water that he got distracted, but in spite of the distraction, HE WALKED ON WATER! 3. YOU MUST OVERCOME DISTRACTIONS AND GET BACK ON TRACK. Distractions are a normal part of the process. It’s important to know that everyone can be distracted, but it’s how you manage them that’s key. Distractions cause us to doubt God. We take our eyes off of Jesus and we look at our storm (circumstances). Many of us hear and see God but once we step out on our faith and the distractions come… we doubt God and we lose faith! ~Bishop Coleman @ GNHCM 1/4/2015 (First Sunday of the New Year)
