Taken at pick No. 46 in the December Rookie Draft, Frost made a quick impression on his new coaches with his athleticism and attitude and slotted into centre half back without fuss during the NAB Cup. Although he’s not a high possession winner, Frost’s work one-on-one stood out as did his desperation once the ball hit the deck. This was never more evident than when he laid six tackles in the win over the Eagles at Patersons Stadium. He was one of two players (Ben Hudson being the other) to be elevated onto the senior list as a nominated rookie ahead of the season proper and made his debut as a late inclusion for the round one stoush with North Melbourne. Frost didn’t let anyone down, winning 12 possessions and three rebound 50s as his side celebrated a first up victory. Considered unlucky to be squeezed out the following week, Frost returned to the seniors against Hawthorn in round three. Playing against the likes of Lance Franklin and Jarryd Roughead proved a tough ask but his commitment never wavered, evidenced by his six tackles in wet conditions. He was substituted out of the match during the third quarter and did not reappear at senior level for the remainder of the year, instead applying himself diligently in the VFL. Things looked grim when he went down with a PCL injury in the dying stages of the round five encounter with his old club, Williamstown, but fortunately the prognosis was not season-ending. It took him more than 10 weeks to return and he was hungry to make up for lost time, averaging three tackles across his final five games and performing superbly in the Elimination Final against Port Melbourne when he broke even with the Borough’s goal kicking goliath Dean Galea.
