Taken from Chapter nine of my Unpublished novel titled: THE SPIRIT OF AN OPTIMIST :So what else could i do to retrieve my long lost hope? This question kept on spinning in my mind till it got replaced by a very deep thought about what Africa went through back in the days when i was still coming up. I remembered genocide that dominated Rwanda, ebolah that contaminated Democratic republic of congo back in the days when it was still called Zaire, and not forgetting a civil war that maimed Angola by the times of a remoseless Jonas Sabimbi. But because of Africas hopefulness, those unpleasant things that happened in those countries they all became settled. There are too many unpleasant things that happened and some are still happening here in Africa, but despite the difficulities that Africa is going through hope is something that it is still embracing and can not afford to lose. Thus by the moment the invitor was still behind the curtain that separated the inner side of his hiding place,I had a chance to be in Africas shoes and felt the exorbitant pain that it went through.A pain that none of us can bear,a pain that can lead us in to tossing our hopes away,a pain that can blindfold us and deny us with a beautiful view of the future. But just take a look at Africa,it remained sturbbon in tossing its hope away,it doesnt submit to the pain that is going through, instead it keeps on fighting irrespective of how extreme the pain is.Perhaps if i gave myself a chance to stand by this continent by the time things started to fall apart for me,i couldnt have grumbled, perhaps i couldnt have attempted suicide.
