Taken from a blog. I believe that the Chairman Daniel Levy is the root of the major problems at Spurs. During his reign, he has appointed 11 temporary or permanent managers in 13 years. Another commonly known fact is Spurs reluctance to hold on to their best players. The sales of Michael Carrick, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale are all examples of this. Levy is more interested in his bank balance than getting his team amongst football’s elite. A lack of ambition is why the aforementioned trio are not in a lily-white shirt currently. Had Levy took a firm stance and kept those three players, imagine the team Spurs could have had! The current speculation that Spurs might have to play a season at MK Dons’ stadium doesn’t do Levy any good with regards to his external planning. Surely this issue should be a private one and should have been sorted out months, if not years ago? The other major factor I feel that is hinging Spurs is that this lack of ambition and ideas is influencing the players. As individuals, they are very good ones. As a collective, the matter is clearly different. Does Lloris want to be playing in a Europa League team in which he, as a goalkeeper is arguably the best player on the pitch? Expect him to move on sooner rather than later, Spurs fans. The same can also be said about Eriksen and possibly Vertonghen. These three players could play for just about any team in Europe, and as soon as Levy sees the pound signs they will be out the door. They won’t be begging him to stay. But that doesn’t matter as Spurs have almost a back catalogue of a squad and they will go out and recruit more players to sell. And the cycle goes on and on. Spurs have got to play Chelsea and Manchester United before the end of the year, as well as taking on the West Londoners again on New Year’s day. If I were a gambling man, I wouldn’t back them. -RD #COYS THOUGHTS?
