Taken from a book of names that dont go out of style : Phoebe - has a sweet, spritely sound (FEE-bee) and a perennially fresh, contemporary feel, although its a classical name. The name means bright and comes from a Greek goddess associated with the moon. Phoebe, also the name of a small bird, was fashionable in the early part of the twentieth century, but in the 1960s it flitted off the radar. It only made a comeback in 1989 and was later helped along by Lisa Kudrows character Phoebe in the sitcom Friends which debuted in 1994.
